Me, thinking about stuff

I’m going through a list phase, one in which I must make a list for everything.  I’m sure it’s only a temporary malfunction due to a deficiency in dopamine activity in my prefrontal cortex.  Or it could just be a thing.  A thing I’m going through.  While the first explanation sounds intellectually superior in almost every way, the latter is a whole bunch easier to say.  Especially after a couple glasses of wine.  Besides, when you stop and think about it, how smart can you really appear to be if you can’t even pronounce that of which you are in ailment?

Getting back to my tendency to list everything in my life from my Bucket List to my Hit List, I decided to try and harness my random, scattered and sometimes scary observances of the world into a nice, neat little Type A totally analgesic list.   Please to enjoy, kind people of the super highway:

  •  Confucius confuses me.   One of my professors in the Grad school program is crazy about this ancient brainiac.  Confucius has many quotes attributed to him.   My personal favorite is “Wherever you go, go with all your heart.”     I will drink to that.  I try to live my life that way, corny as it may sound.  I wonder if Confucius ever took any of his own advice.   I wonder about things like that.
  • Older women are sexy.   No, seriously, we are.  I’m not talking your silver-haired seniors in the nursing homes.   Although, they have the right to their own particular brand of sexy, I guess.   Oh, I just got a visual on that.  My eyes are bleeding.  Let’s move on, shall we?  Older women are wise and we know how to do things really well.   And by things, I mean things related to sex kinds of things.  Don’t judge.  You’ll be there someday, and I hope you’ll be ‘rocking your sexy’.   I’ve heard rocking-chair sex transcends age barriers and trips the light fantastic.   Or you could just learn to knit and bake cookies.
  • How’d I get so damned busy?   Six months ago I was having daily nervous breakdowns (ah the memories) trying to contain my incessant peanut butter cravings, dancing naked to “Jumping Jack Flash” (visuals are not recommended here), and counting/categorizing my pill collection into pretty little colorful formations.  It was a lonely life but I didn’t have to freaking get up early.   Now I work full-time, take a full load of classes, write various projects and get not much sleep.  This behavior must not continue.   Where’s my ‘me’ time?    I haven’t had a Pedi in so long; my big toe is growing hair.  Curly hairs.   Pretty soon I won’t need socks.
  • I can fall asleep sitting straight up in a chair.   I just did, in fact, and now my wine’s warm and I have to clean the drool off my desk.  I’ll be right back.
  • I love three things a lot.  My phone.  My flat iron.  Angry Birds.  Not in that order.  They just may be the reasons for my insomnia.  Oh yea, I can fall sound asleep sitting straight up in a chair….but let me lie down on the bed and I’m wide awake.  It might be excitement for my new job, or my fretting over my studies, but most likely not.   I’m probably plotting against those Angry Birds.  The little bastards.  I would like to thank my son and his fiancé for helping me become addicted to still another useless activity.  I seriously need an Angry Birds Twelve Step program.  Pray for me, or chant, or think ethereal thoughts.  I could use a little enlightenment or an orgasm.

Well, my lovelies, that’s enough thinking for one evening.   My brain can only take so much of my twistedness.     I leave you with a hug and a favorite quote:

Confucius say: “And remember, no matter where you go, there you are.”

I am a list maker. Love list makers. But I don’t have one of “those” phones, and therefore have never seen an Angry Bird. I have no idea what it is. At all. Silly me. 🙂

Hi Ally. You really don’t want to know what Angry Birds are. If someone approaches you with Angry Birds………..take my advice, and back away slowly………OR turn and run like hell. You can thank me later.

Hi Mary. Yea, I forgot my list for training class yesterday and had to ask the instructor for a whole new set of reference materials. I don’t think I made a lot of points with him. Ouch

Hi lovely Kim. I “wish” I was a professor. No, I just think weird, random things. I’m working on my Masters in Organization Culture. Very interesting studies about doing business all over the world and within their different cultures and core beliefs.

Awe to my delight i’M back home after a wonderful afternoon and evening with my former sister=in= law and dearest friend Barentha Cox. We were at one time the female version of Cheech AND Chong. lol But I sit down to find my favorite author has been blogging again. So of course I sit hear reading every word. I thought making list is quit the normal thing to do. My word if I didnt make myself a list of thing s to do or need to get I’d be totally lost. My problem is i often put the list where I just know I wont forget it then get there and realize i forgot it. Then my mind goes in overdrive trying to remember what was on the list in order and compair it when I get back home. Sometime I score an A. But then there’s times I get to make a second trip back to the store, or to the place where I was supposed to pay the bill.oops (brain fart alert!!!). I’ve not made a Bucket List though, Thing only one special thing I want to do is go on our cruise SIS. And what is a angry bird?? Anyway I love it when you get creative and start writing so thanks and keep doing it.

Your brain dumps are more interesting than most people’s well thought out dissertations. I can and do fall asleep at the computer, but I usually end up with my head on the keyboard. It sucks to wake up to bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb.

I believe the whole Confuscius quote is, “No matter where you go in life, when you get there, that’s where you are.” That was a favorite of ours when I was in college. Sometimes I used to write it on the blackboard when I was teaching, just to confuse my students! LOL

Thanks Eva. I did not know that wasn’t the entire quote. Appreciate your correction. The shorter version still says something, but the longer one says it much better.

I understand the peanut butter cravings and waking up in the night. I think I throw the covers off because of flashes and then wake up cold because I don’t have anything on me. Thanks for the humor! One of my favorite quotes: “It is what it is” 🙂

Twisted, most definitely twisted. That’s what I like best about you. You are SO twisted. Confusion says: Funny thing is, I went ‘there’? I wasn’t there? Were you? I wonder if I should keep going there because if I am not there, then where am I?

Got it. Silliness or deep thinking? Ponderous. LOL And soooooo, if YOU don’t know where you are, when you’re there, then I sure don’t know where you are when you are there. I don’t know where I am half the time, but according to Confucius, I am, indeed, there. Hmmmmm….

I don’t understand Confucious either…I’m also not sure that he said all the things that people say he said.

Every technical ailment should have its “three glass of wine” alternative.

Otherwise I’d never be able to say what’s bugging me.

Love your lists, Terri. You sexy thing you.

And since I don’t like to bake and have no interest in knitting, I guess I’m going to have to aim for sexy, too.

    See you there, friend.

Glad to see someone shares a similarly random stream of consciousness. I too was just marveling at my own ability to sleep straight up in a chair. I’m a fabulous airplane sleeper and I’m vetoed from driving on long car trips. I’m getting a little groggy sitting straight up in my wing-backed chair at Starbucks right now… sigh.

You always make me laugh. I share your confusion of Confucius. I think sometimes, wise people are SO wise that their wisdom is not wise at all- does that make any sense? Well, really, what is wisdom? I think about THAT sometimes:D

And Angry Birds makes me angry. Too difficult.

It makes perfect sense to me, GD. But that may not be saying a whole lot. I think in strange and wonderful ways. I’m glad you liked the post. I’ve changed the name of Angry Birds to Crazy Birds. They make me crazy………..and then angry. The little rascals…

Moved to Texas – don’t ask why – I don’t know. I had to switch phone providers. No more Droid – no more Angry Birds. As Confucius say: “The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their proper name.” but I think an exception can be made for Crazy Birds.
